Piping Live! at Ceol’s Craic

Ceòl ‘s Craic is the social hub and platform for contemporary Gaelic culture in Glasgow.
To celebrate the launch of the upcoming annual season of events, Ceò l ‘s Craic presents in partnership with Piping Live!

Full Line up includes

6pm Workshop/Talk Rona Lightfoot
A gifted exponent of Gaelic music in the oral tradition, Rona Lightfoot is a performer and teacher of song and piping. She will host the evening and present her own workshop in Canntaireachd, the syllabic technique of the oral piping tradition.

6.30pm Film Screening Feadan an Fhasaich
Feadan an Fhasaich – This documentary follows the story of a very unusual pipe band based in the Sultanate of Oman

7pm Workshop/Talk Barnaby Brown
Barnaby Brown leads the revival of the northern triplepipe, the ‘organ’ of the Celtic Church and precursor of the bagpipe in Britain and Ireland. He also champions the art of canntaireachd, a chant which imitates the sound of the Highland bagpipe, and plays pibroch on a reproduction of a chanter owned by the Blind Piper of Gairloch (c.1656–c.1754). Barnaby will join us for a unique presentation.

8pm Live Music Angus Nicolson Trio
The trio consists of Angus Nicolson, Andrew MacPherson and Murdo Cameron, a trio of very talented musicians who describe their music as ‘very highland… and as gaidhealach as is possible whilst giving it a contemporary feel.’

9pm Live Music Armagh Pipers Club
Armagh Pipers Club was founded in 1966, and has just celebrated 40 years of musical activity in the Armagh area. Ten award winning multi-instrumentalists will join us for this special performance.
