Andrew Bonar Events

Andrew has been piping since the age of seven.  In the early years, Andrew was taught by Ian Keith, Ian MacDougall, and Jack Lee.

Andrew first joined the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band at the age of fourteen.  Andrew has competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in Grade 1 twenty-five times, placing in the top six 22 times and winning on five occasions.
In 2011, Andrew won the United States Gold Medal for Piobaireachd.  In 2010, Andrew won the Silver Medal Piobaireachd at the Northern Meeting and the B Grade Piobiareachd at Cowal.  Andrew has won the B.C. Pipers Association Knock-out competition seven times and has qualified for the finals of the Knock-out competition a record 19 times.

In 2004, Andrew published a book of music: Boney Music.  Many of Andrew’s tunes have been played by the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band.

Andrew has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University.  Andrew works as an Air Traffic Controller at the Vancouver Area Control Centre. Andrew’s wife, Jeanette, is a Highland Dancing judge and teacher.  Andrew has two young children:  Kate and Cameron.
